While you are in school, get as much experience as you can. A good way to get valuable experience is applying for an internship. This will give you the chance to work in the field and learn from professionals while working on your degree. Also, if it is possible, you may want to consider getting a part time job in a related field while you are attending college. The more experience you can get, the better.
Along with working on your fashion skills, you will also need to work on other skills such as people skills and interviewing skills. Your career depends on how well your interview goes. Research the company you want to work for. Learn everything you can about them and use this information in your interview. Know the styles they use and dress in that style when you have the interview. Also, learn about their competitors and come up with some of your own ideas. If you are really serious about working in the fashion industry, try to get an internship in one of the big cities such as London or Paris. This experience will be great on your resume.
